The skin is the largest organ of the human body. It is made up of three different layers: the outer layer known as the epidermis; the middle layer called the dermis; and the deep dermis or subcutaneous layer.
It's role is to protect the internal delicate parts of your body and acts as a barrier against harmful chemicals, infections and UVA/UVB light. Skin also regulates your body temperature and the many nerve endings can help to detect danger in our environment as well as of course being a source of pleasure.
Young healthy skin is full and firm with a uniform colour and texture. It has good elastic qualities springing back to shape after being stretched and pulled by movement in the body or face.

Causes Of skin Ageing

Our genes play a huge part in the way our skin ages. Looking at our parents may give us some clues as to the way age will affect us in the future.
The main reason for premature ageing of the skin is sun damage known as photo ageing. Other factors are: smoking, alcohol, diet, drugs and sleep deprivation.

What can we do to turn back the clock?

The production of our own hyaluronic acid in our skin slows down as time goes by. This substance is responsible for hydrating our skin and making it smooth and elastic. A skin that is without enough hyaluronic acid will be less elastic and becomes dryer, thinner and starts to wrinkle.
The good news is that safe and effective treatments are available to reverse the signs of ageing and to prevent further signs occurring.
